Dr. Emily Crews - Veterinarian

${name}

Dr. Crews has always had a fondness for creatures great and small. As a child, you would probably find her exploring the woods behind her house, observing the animals and insects that lived there. On bad weather days, she was usually watching Steve Irwin or Jeff Corwin on Animal Planet.

Today, Dr. Crews is proud to offer comprehensive veterinary services to a broad spectrum of animal species. Her background in horsemanship led her to pursue a hoof-stock (large herbivore) zoo-keeping internship during the summer of 2016 with the Houston Zoo. Further study in South Africa during veterinary school solidified Dr. Crews' goal of becoming an exotic animal veterinarian. She tailored her veterinary education for this goal by undergoing clinical externships at White Oak Conservation Center, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, Naples Zoo, Alamogordo Primate Facility, and additional exotic animal hospitals.

Dr. Crews graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and Entomology in 2016, followed by her DVM in 2020. She spent her first two years of clinical practice working in high-volume, high-quality small animal medicine (majority dogs and cats). During the Fall of 2021, Dr. Crews was also hired on as lead veterinarian at All Things Wild Rehabilitation, a wildlife emergency center in Georgetown, TX. ATW sees roughly three thousand patients per year, spanning all varieties of native Texas wildlife.

Dr. Crews is thrilled to join the team at Georgetown Veterinary Hospital in providing top-tier care to domestic and exotic pets alike. Her professional interests include surgery, internal medicine, emergency care, animal behavior, and the One Health Initiative. She also continues to serve as a lead veterinarian for All Things Wild. When not working, Dr. Crews spends her free time with her husband Isaac, as well as their four dogs, five horses, three rats, and axolotl. She enjoys riding her horses, kayaking, and creating art inspired by nature.
Animal care and welfare is Dr. Crews' greatest passion. Whether your pet has fur, feathers, or scales, Dr. Crews looks forward to teaming up with you for your pet's long-term health.
